Clinic Director, Chiropractor, Functional Medicine
Dr. Jeffrey Kowachik, DC attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and graduated Valedictorian in 2006. He was awarded the presidential scholarship for academic achievement and served as an academic tutor during his time in Davenport and did his clinic abroad program in Brazil where he served 250 individuals though chiropractic care. After graduating Dr. Jeff returned to his home state of Florida and worked as an associate chiropractor in St. Petersburg, FL at Farcus Chiropractic before moving to Tennessee where he founded New Life Family Wellness in the Memphis area.
Dr. Jeff came to be a Chiropractor as a result of his own health challenges and is actually a third career for him. He graduated from Tulane University in 1986 with a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science but due to a shift in the market place he ended up in the Restaurant industry managing TGIFridays and Outback Steakhouse location wear he proceed to develop back and stress related health issues over the years. This lead to several failed attempts to solve his back and other health issues through traditional medical means including surgery to remove a cyst believed to be causing numbness in his hands. Luckily when he developed a disk issue in his low back he was lead to surgeon who recommended he try Chiropractic care and Physical Therapy since he felt he was too young to be sent down the repeat back surgery path of care.
This recommendation changed Dr. Jeff’s life as he learned how Chiropractic care helps the body heal be restoring function to the nervous system and realigns the body so it can function properly. As he embarked on this new approach to his health, not only did he overcome his back pain issues but as the interference to his nervous system system was removed he was able to overcome blood pressure issues, headaches, digestive and heart burn issues and a number of other stress related health issues, as his body was realigned and able to adapt better.
“I think I was the worst chiropractic patient in the beginning, believing as soon as my pain improved my healing was over, but little did I know the power of chiropractic until I committed to following the care plan through...it probably saved my life.”
As a result Dr. Jeff became such a huge proponent for chiropractic care sharing his story and helping others over come health challenges caused by spinal misalignments, that one day his chiropractor strongly suggested he consider changing careers. About a year later he made the decision and started his DC education. Since then he has gone on to study and incorporate various techniques of chiropractic adjusting including Diversified, Thompson, Activator, Gonstead and Palmer Upper Cervical specific techniques. Dr. Jeff also has a strong background in Nutrition and Functional medicine which he blends into his approach to patient care. He believes that each patient should be treated according to their specific individual needs and he uses a truly holistic approach when making treatment recommendations to meet those needs.
After having developed a successful practice in TN at Memphis Chiropractic Neurology, he made the decision to turn the practice over to his partner and move to Colorado where he had vacationed many times and fell in love with the mountains and hiking trails.
